Projects in the past

The majority of the projects we do are conversion projects. They can be done in house, but we prefer to do it offsite. This enables us to use all kinds of tools without having to bother the customer with installation problems. We surely do other things than conversions, but on rather rare occasions.

PHP and Mysql

We used PHP and Mysql to do all reporting functions in the various projects. Customers receive a ready to use intranet system (using PHPDEV from Firepages) with the results of the analysis done during the conversion projects. It is an easy and flexible way to do reporting rather than write some C++. Using forms, the customers can make the selections they want to be reported. This is the main area where we use PHP and Mysql.

REXX program analysis

Developed a complex inventory and change follow-up system for REXX routines. The purpose is to get an idea of common variables used in the routines, together with the program flow of these routines. Coupled with it is a change mgmt system. The REXX routines are syntax checked and analyzed before they go from a test environment to accept and/or to production environment.

LEX en YACC

To make conversions easier, I studied Lex and Yacc. These utilities used to build compilers are widely used in the Unix world. As proof-of-concept I converted REXX to C using Lex and Yacc.

Conversion PRO-IV to COBOL II

Using Lex and YACC, I did a conversion from PRO-IV (4° generation language) to Cobol-CICS and DB/2. The purpose of the conversion is to ensure continuity of the online applications.

Father and technical project leader

Designed and developed a general conversion concept. It has been used to convert Cobol applications for Y2K in different environments. Clients where in Benelux and some in US.

Converting IPDT to Cobol

Designed a system to convert IPDT (text processing on IBM mainframe) to a legacy application. The purpose was to be able to keep a 1.000.000 letter history 'alive' without continuing to run IPDT. We made a prototype in REXX and implemented in Assembler (for speed). This was a very important project because we were talking about the history of an insurance company. People must be able to inquire this history and reproduce the information as originally stated. The target environment was an IBM online application. Today, it surely would have been an intranet application.

Security

Developed a system to set up security specifications (RACF) for MQ series. This is an ISPF Dialog manager application. It serves as a user interface to cover all complex definitions to make in RACF for MQ series.

IDMS/MEMO

Developed an interface between MEMO (e-mail on mainframe) and IDMS. This was some years ago. The routine has been sold all over the world.

Conversions from VSE to MVS

Conversions from CICS macro level to Command level

DES encryption

Conversions COBOL - COBOL II

Conversion RPG - COBOL II
